The Minnesota Energy Enterprise Center and Minnesota West Community & Technical College have recently received a grant in the amount of $5,000 from the Southwest Initiative Foundation to assist in the development of a renewable energy website to house online interactive training modules for the college’s Renewable Energy Technology program.
The Renewable Energy Technology program at Minnesota West was originally created as a face-to-face training program. With the advancements in online learning and the ever-increasing demand for training in the bio-fuels industry, Minnesota West has continued to offer an increasing number of courses online to meet the demands of the industry. As a result of the grant from the Southwest Initiative Foundation, the college is in the process of developing an online interactive training module that will allow the online courses to parallel the on-campus courses taught in the Renewable Energy Technology program. Working with the Southwest Initiative Foundation on this project has allowed Minnesota West to offer on-line training in the energy industry to a broader audience to meet the demands for a highly skilled workforce within the industry.
The Southwest Initiative Foundation is a regional community foundation dedicated to advancing southwest Minnesota through leadership, relationship-building, program development and philanthropy.
