Announcing “Live Chat” at Minnesota Online for visitors, employers seeking educational assistance, prospective and current students, faculty and staff

April 5, 2005 --- Service to customers took another leap forward today with the initiation of “Live Chat” at the Minnesota Online website <www.minnesotaonline.org>. The new service allows users to submit questions and receive answers in real time. Visitors, prospective and current students, employers, and faculty and staff are invited to enter Live Chat on Monday through Friday from 8 am – 8 pm and weekends from 10 am – 3 pm.

Live Chat is staffed by information specialists and online advisors, who are prepared to entertain a wide array of questions about online programs and courses, financial aid, transfer, admissions, registration, web sites, and key contact information, and referrals for specialized assistance. They are also skillful in written communication, determining user needs in a friendly and efficient way, and responding quickly.

Users will need to enter first and last name and email address, and click submit. Communications enhancing software will download on the first use. Users signed in see a text message from the service staff that says, “Hello, I’m (Jane), how may I help you today?” The user then types a message or question, and the dialogue begins.

Live Chat is a component of the Right Now® customer relationship management system that helps service staff resolve questions faster and provide more user friendly services.
